Danny Whitaker Testimonial Update

8 March 2019

Andy Worth provides an update on our Magic Man's special season.

First of all on behalf of the Danny Whitaker Testimonial Committee, I would like to take this opportunity to offer a huge debt of gratitude to all those who have attended the Gala Dinner in October 2018 and more recently the Race Night on 1st March.

In addition to this I would also like to say a big thank you to those who provided some amazing raffle and auction prizes, to help to raise as much money as we can for a guy who really does deserve to be called a Silkmen legend.

Both of these events have been hugely successful and very well received. What's more is that there is much more to come as we strive to reach the ambitious £25,000 target that we set at the start of our journey!

I would like now to take the opportunity to inform you about two more events that will be happening over the coming months.

The first of these events is a Golf Day to be held at Macclesfield Golf Club. This is being co-ordinated by the incomparable Andy Scott, with the date and time for this event to be confirmed in the near future.

Andy has already managed to get together a number of teams on board, but we are always interested to learn of more people who want to take up the challenge.

The cost is £200 for a team of four - which will also include a sumptuous meal and I would further advise you to bring along plenty of cash / your credit card because knowing Mr Scott as I do, there are sure to be some very attractive raffle / auction prizes on offer as well!

For those of you who aren't golfers please don't worry because we have set Danny's testimonial game for Sunday 5th May 2019 with a 14:00 kick-off

This is a Bank Holiday weekend, so you can all enjoy yourselves and not have to worry about getting up for work the next day!

A Danny Whitaker XI (which will include some of his very well known former team-mates) will take on a Celebrity XI which will comprise of a number of soap stars including Ashley Taylor-Dawson and Jacob Roberts - better known as Darren Osborne and Damon Kinsella from Hollyoaks; Alan Halsall who plays Tyrone Dobbs in Coronation Street, and Anthony Quinlan who is Pete Barton in Emmerdale.

The admission prices will be £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £1 for under 12's.

We will also be offering a corporate package (that includes a meal and programme) for £50pp  to a maximum of 150 people.

Please keep your eyes peeled for further information and if you wish to reserve tickets for what is sure to be a great occasion; you can email me at Gmacworth@aol.com.
