Striker Joe Ironside signed on a one-year deal at the club last week and was keen to tell us how excited he is for the new season -
“I’m delighted to be here, and I can’t wait for the season to start.”
Having heard through his agent about the interest from Macclesfield Town, Joe was clearly in no doubt as to where his future lay -
“I heard it through my agent and the ball just got rolling from there.”
“Macc is a good club and obviously it's League Two football, so I just wanted an opportunity to show what I can do and it has come about. I’m delighted.”
The twenty-five year old most recently provided his services up-front for National League North side Kidderminster Harriers last season, before making a loan move to York City.
We then went on to ask Joe on his opinion on working under Sol Campbell this coming season –
“Obviously he had such a good career and you always want to learn from the best. Hopefully we can learn some new things and kick on this season.”
We then asked Joe how he would best describe himself on the pitch –
“I’d like to think I’m a handful, I like to get a hold of the ball and I believe I’m quite good in the air, the more physical side of the game you could say.”
With Joe already quite familiar with fellow Macclesfield Town player James Pearson, he believes that he will be able to settle into the dressing room quickly and is already preparing for the new campaign -
“I want to get on with the fitness side of things and hit the ground running on the first day of pre-season and from there I want to just keep things ticking over.”
