Midfielder Jak McCourt put pen to paper on a one year deal at the Moss Rose last week is looking forward to the season ahead -
"I am delighted to get the deal over the line and I can't wait to get started when we get back for pre-season training."
The twenty-three year old former Swindon Town man stated that when he heard that The Silkmen were interested in acquiring his services, then there was no doubt in his mind where he wanted to be -
"No, there wasn't to be honest. I actually spoke to Macclesfield quite early on, before the end of last season and with Sol as the manager, it's a no-brainer to come here.
"Let's hope that we have a successful season."
We then moved on to ask Jak how he would describe himself as a player -
"I see myself as a defensive-midfielder, but I can get forward as well.
"But then it's down to the manager what position he plays me in - whether it is more attacking, more defensive or both with the system that he plays - I'll just be happy to be playing every week."
For many Silkmen fans, the over-riding memory of Jak will be the injury-time goal that he scored for Swindon at the Moss Rose last season. But how much is getting forward and creating chances part of our new signing's game?
"Yeah obviously I scored the goal which got Swindon the win last season - but I am delighted to be here now.
"I see myself as a set-piece specialist, so I will hopefully be able to get some more goals for Macc!"
Finally, Jak has been described as a "larger than life" figure in and around the dressing room - we asked him whether that was a fair assessment?
"I like to get on with all the lads and have a laugh - but as soon as I get on to that training ground then it's down to business, just like it is on a Saturday."
