Macclesfield Town are delighted to announce the signing of tenacious midfielder Jak McCourt, who has joined the club on a one year deal.
The 23-year-old progressed through the youth ranks at Leicester City and during this time, enjoyed a three month loan period at Torquay United where he made his EFL debut back in 2013.
Jak signed a one year professional contract with The Foxes in the summer of 2014 and went on to complete a brief loan spell at Port Vale, before signing a permanent deal with League One side Barnsley in January 2016.
After being an unused substitute for The Tykes in their victorious Sky Bet League One Play-Off Final against Millwall the following May, Jak was released from Oakwell and subsequently offered a two year contract at Northampton Town.
Re-united with former manager Rob Page, Jake went on to make twenty-six appearances for The Cobblers - scoring his first senior goal during a one-all draw at Scunthorpe United back in October 2016.
The Liverpudlian then made the move to Chesterfield, where he made thirty-four appearances during the 2017/18 season - scoring five times.
Last summer, Jak secured a one year deal at Swindon Town and accumulated twenty-seven appearances for The Robins before being released by the Wiltshire outfit last month.
Jak's all-round play is characterised by a superb range of passing and a will to win which is much sought-after at every level of the game.
We would like to welcome Jak to the Moss Rose and wish him every success during his time at Macclesfield Town.
Jak's first interview as a Macclesfield Town player will be published here at www.mtfc.co.uk tomorrow - so keep checking back for all the latest news.
