Three second half goals saw Macclesfield Town slip to a frustrating defeat in our final pre-season game away at Victoria Park.
The hosts started the better of the two sides, earning an early penalty after Gime Toure was upended in the area.
Toure took the spot kick himself but blazed the ball over the crossbar as Macc survived the early scare.
Hartlepool continued to press and almost opened the scoring moments later with a fierce Niko Muir drive which clipped the crossbar on its way over.
The Pools looked destined to score on the half hour mark, but Evans did well to deny Toure from close in before Muir’s follow up was headed off the line by Theo Vassell.
Macc hit back with an effort from Emmanuel Osadebe, but his shot was comfortably saved by Killip in the Hartlepool goal.
The Silkmen continued to push as half time loomed, with Jak McCourt rattling the Hartlepool crossbar from a brilliant 25-yard free-kick.
The hosts had the first chance of the second period, as Gavin Holohan tested Evans with a strike from distance.
Macc had a chance to take the lead when Killip handled a back pass but the ball was scrambled away, and the score remained level.
The hosts then took the lead on the hour mark as Nicky Featherstone saw his shot find a way past Evans following a deflection after a well worked Hartlepool move.
Hartlepool found themselves two in front ten minutes later after Luke James crossed and Gime Toure volleyed home to double our hosts’ advantage.
Hartlepool confirmed the result ten minutes from time as Featherstone found himself with space on the left flank before crossing to Michael Raynes to score Hartlepool’s third and put the game out of reach.
