Silkmen Sign Theo Archibald

30 July 2019

Macclesfield Town are delighted to announce the signing of 21-year-old right winger Theo Archibald, who has joined the club on a one-year deal with the option of a further year.

Theo progressed through the youth ranks at Celtic and whilst winning the 2014-15 Glasgow Cup with the Under 17s side, signed a three-year contract with the Scottish giants.

Progressing into the Under 19 setup, Theo gained European experience by featuring in the UEFA Youth League and went on to help the Development Squad win the 2015-16 SPFL Development League championship.

In January 2017 the athletic winger went out on loan to Albion Rovers in the Scottish First Division, where he made fourteen appearances for The Wee Rovers.

Returning to Celtic Park upon the completion of his loan deal, Theo then moved south of the border to sign for Championship side Brentford on a three-year contract.

He made his EFL deal shortly after moving to Griffin Park, before finishing the 2017-18 season as the B Team's second-highest scorer with fourteen goals.

The versatile youngster then headed out on loan Forest Green Rovers last summer and would go on to make fourteen appearances for the club - scoring an incredible injury-time winner against Northampton Town on New Year's Day.

In addition to his domestic career, Theo has also represented Scotland at various youth levels - right up to the Under 21 side.

We would like welcome Theo to the club and wish him every success during his time here at the Moss Rose.
