Season Preview: Mansfield Town

25 July 2019

We continue our 2019/20 season preview by featuring the other MTFC - Mansfield Town

Nickname : The Stags

Stadium : The One Call Stadium

Capacity : 9,186

Round Trip From The Moss Rose : 103.4 miles

Last Season : 4th

After an impressive fourth-placed finish to the last campaign, it has proved to be a turbulent summer at the One Call Stadium.

Two days after suffering play-off heartbreak at the hands of Newport County, manager David Flitcroft was dismissed and replaced with Academy boss, John Dempster.

The signings of Andy Cook and Nicky Maynard will give the Stags one of the most potent strike-forces in the division and if they can hit the ground running, then the Nottinghamshire outfit will unquestionably be one of the sides battling it out for promotion this time round.

The Gaffer - John Dempster

After the dismissal of David Flitcroft last May, Dempster was named as his successor at the One Call Stadium and in doing so, became the youngest manager in the EFL.

The 36-year-old will be looking forward to his debut season in the professional game, yet he will be acutely aware that Mansfield will be doing everything that they can to secure a League One return this time around.

Transfer Dealings.

Out - Will Atkinson, Zayn Hakeem, Henri Wilder, David Mirfin (retired)

In - Andy Cook, Aidan Stone, Nicky Maynard

Our Last Meeting.

Sol Campbell's men made the journey to the One Call Stadium last April, and fell behind in the 8th minute when Nottingham Forest loanee Jorge Grant fired home from close range.

The visitors fought back and would restore parity three minutes before the interval, as Callum Evans rifled in his first goal of the season from ten yards out.

After Macc had passed up an array of guilt-edged chances, The Stags would regain the lead on 56 minutes when Krystian Pearce fired home after an almighty goalmouth scramble.

With a minute left on the clock, Mansfield secured their victory as Tyler Walker's effort was adjudged to have crossed the line by the assistant referee.

Our Next Meetings.

Home - Saturday 16th November

Away - Saturday 4th April
