It is very rare that any club, at any level of the game can boast a player who changes the narrative of it's entire history.
In Danny Whitaker, we were blessed with just that.
Ever since he first appeared for the club back in February 2002, Danny has been the consummate professional and conducted himself with an incredible humility which has adhered him to everyone that he has come into contact with so vehemently.
Danny's record speaks for itself, but what the statistics don't show is the incredible passion and commitment which has characterised every single one of his 762 career appearances.
This is exemplified with reference to his first and last goals for the club.
Despite the fact that over seventeen years separated his debut strike against Exeter City and his final one against Stevenage last March, they were both majestic finishes which oozed defiance and belief when our backs were firmly against the wall.
That was Danny all over - as even when the odds were against us in so many ways, invariably his tremendous desire helped carry us through.
The fact that Danny maintained his incredible consistency for such a long period is testament to his meticulous routine off the pitch and his unwavering conviction to be the very best player that he could be.
In this regard, Danny undoubtedly succeeded to devastating effect.
Danny took us into his heart and we unquestionably took him in to ours in a manner which will live on forevermore.
Together with his iconic magic hat, we now embark on a new relationship with Danny as he puts all of his phenomenal energy and experience into helping us create more unforgettable memories.
As Danny begins his new journey, we are convinced that he has an incredibly successful career ahead of him and if he achieves a fraction of what he did as a player, then both Macclesfield Town and Danny himself have much to look forward to.
