Macclesfield Town return to Sky Bet League Two action this afternoon as we travel to Blundell Park to face Grimsby Town.
The Silkmen go into Saturday’s clash on the back of a narrow 2-1 defeat to Swindon Town at the Moss Rose last weekend, and the team will be looking to bounce back in style against The Mariners.
This is what Sol had to say ahead of the game:
We hope to see as many of you as possible this weekend as we look to get our survival bid back on track against The Mariners.
Grimsby come into the encounter on the back of a 1-0 defeat to Crystal Palace in the F.A Cup; they also fell to defeat at the hands of Mansfield by the same score line in their last league match on New Year’s Day.
Our hosts currently sit in 14th place in the Sky Bet League Two standings having accumulated 34 points from their 26 league outings up to this point.
They have won four of their last five at home, the only defeat in that run coming in their latest home game against Mansfield.
The Mariners added former Swedish U17 and U19 international defender Ludvig Öhman to their ranks on Tuesday, he will be available to make his debut against us this afternoon.
Grimsby boss Michael Jolley had this to say ahead of the game:
“It’s all about how we perform on Saturday and moving forward over the next few games.
“We have a very tough game against a Macclesfield team which has improved since Sol Campbell went in.
“They’re obviously down at the bottom of the league and fighting for the lives and fighting for every point, so that will be another tough game.”
