Match Preview: Cheltenham Town vs Macclesfield Town

25 January 2019

The Silkmen head to Cheltenham this weekend for a crucial clash against a struggling Robins side in a tie that has the potential to turn the tide for both clubs and in many ways can be billed as a relegation six pointer.

Macc come into the game after continuing our recent good form with a hard-fought 2 - 1 victory over Oldham Athletic last time out -  a result that means Sol and the team have the possibility of climbing out of the relegation places with victory at the Jonny Rocks Stadium.

Here is what Sol had to say ahead of the game:

We hope to see as many of our loyal fans as possible make the journey south and help cheer the team on as you have done so magnificently all season.

Cheltenham come into the game having lost their last four games in all competitions - the latest defeat coming at the hands of Carlisle United in the form of a 2 - 0 defeat last weekend.

Our hosts currently sit two points and two places above us in the league table having accumulated 29 points from their 28 games so far this season.

The Robins are without a win at home since Boxing Day, a 3-1 success against MK Dons, going into Saturday’s game.

Opposition manager Michael Duff had this to say ahead of the game:

"We have four cup finals coming up at home and the players need to recognise that, as do the supporters. We need them to come along and make some noise and the players need to deliver".

"I don't think we are far off it. We can't panic - it's not about other teams it's about how many points we get.

"The players know they need to deliver and it's all about getting points on the table."

Away supporters are located in the Hazlewoods Stand, located behind the goal at the Whaddon Road end of the Jonny-Rocks Stadium.
