Stelios Demetriou Signs For The Silkmen

28 January 2019

Macclesfield Town are pleased to announce the signing of 28 year old Cypriot international full-back Stelios Demetriou, who has joined the club until the end of the season - subject to international clearance.

Stelios came through the youth ranks at Apollon Limassol, before turning out for Akritas Chlorakas, Ermis Aradippou and Bulgarian side, Lokomotiv Plovdiv.

Demetriou then headed back to Aradippou, where he played a pivotal role in their Cypriot Super Cup victory back in 2014.

The full-back then spent a brief period with Swedish side Akropolis IF, before heading back to his homeland to enjoy a two year spell at Doxa Katokopias.

A move to Scottish Championship side St Mirren followed and he went on to make thirty-five appearance in their title-winning season.

Despite this, Stelios was released in the summer of 2018, before signing for Ross County.

He went on to make eight appearances for the Highlands outfit, before being released earlier this month.

We would like to welcome Stelios to Macclesfield Town and wish him every success during his time at the Moss Rose.
