Around League Two

24 January 2019

We take a look around some of the stories from our League Two rivals this week...

YouTube Star Swaps Season Ticket For Northampton Starting Spot

Teenager Scott Pollock has recently emerged as a global icon for young aspiring footballers all around the country after his magnificent story broke on a national scale.

The 17-year-old midfielder recently forfeited his Northampton Town season ticket as the youngster astonishingly made his debut for the club in The Cobblers' 3-2 League defeat to Cambridge United.

Pollock recently emerged as a star of global online football team Hashtag United, whose YouTube subscribers are just shy of half-a-million people, before the youngster was spotted and joined Town’s youth team.

Pollock was also recently nominated man-of-the-match in a match against Tekkers Town that included the likes of Steven Gerrard, David James and Emile Heskey.

Mansfield Full-Back Awaits Surgery On Broken Leg

Mansfield Town right-back Hayden White is set to undergo surgery following the broken leg he sustained in The Stag’s 3-2 away victory at Colchester on Saturday.

The win ensured David Flitcroft’s team moved up to third in the League Two table and into the automatic promotion places. The Stags second successive win came at a price however, as the 23-year-old was brought off in excruciating pain.

The former Bolton Wanderers defender fractured his tibia after a challenge with U’s forward Frank Noble in the closing stages of the match.

The latest setback for The Stags may force the club into acting promptly in the January transfer market and Mansfield assistant manager Ben Futcher confirmed the club may bring in a replacement for Wright by the end of the month.

West Ham Loan Talented Midfielder To Northampton

A player Silkmen supporters will remember all too well and not for the right reasons - West Ham United midfielder Joe Powell has joined Northampton Town on loan for the rest of the season.

The 20-year-old made his Hammers debut in the 8-0 victory against Macclesfield Town at the London Stadium back in September.

Powell is still yet to make a league appearance for the Premier League outfit but is a regular in the Under 21’s side.

The youngster is set to make his debut at the Sixfields Stadium on Saturday against Morecambe.
