Ahead of this weekend's Sky Bet League Two clash with Swindon Town, we take a look back at the last time that The Robins visited the Moss Rose.
This took place on 9th November 2013, as The Silkmen faced the Wiltshire outfit in the First Round of the FA Cup for the second consecutive year.
Despite the Swindon residing two leagues above the hosts, Macc went into the game knowing that their illustrious opponents were beatable after the non-leaguers had come away from the County Ground with a 2 – 0 victory the previous season.
It did not take long for Macc to break the deadlock, as on 26 minutes Connor Jennings beautifully finished Scott Boden’s assist to put the home side in front.
With twenty minutes left on the clock Boden then latched onto a long through ball, before emphatically finishing across the face of goal to double The Silkmen’s advantage.
Four minutes later and the home side had extended their lead once more. Great work from Andy Halls down the left hand side resulted in Jennings bursting free and he made no mistake in grabbing his second goal of the game to effectively end the contest.
John Askey’s side completed the rout a minute from time, when Peter Winn seized on a defensive mistake from Grant Hall before dinking the ball past ‘keeper Belford.
The elation on Peter’s face was clear for all to see as The Silkmen had defied the odds yet again.
Here are highlights from the game -
Macc would go on to dispose of Brackley Town in the Second Round, before holding Sheffield Wednesday to a memorable draw at the Moss Rose in Round Three.
