Nine year old Charlotte looks back at yesterday's opening fixture of 2019
Despite waking up a little bit more tired than usual after attempting (and failing) to see in 2019, nothing could dampen the excitement of knowing that in a few hours I’d be cheering on my heroes in blue once more!
This was made even more special knowing that I would be surrounded by an avalanche of non-stop chanting from my fellow fans in the Star Lane End.
Earlier this year I made my first ever visit to Prenton Park and what a experience it was - ninety minutes plus of singing and chanting from the army of Silkmen faithful giving their all just as the lads did on the pitch.
We arrived at the Moss with plenty of time to take in the pre match build up. I’m full of excitement, although there were with a few nerves bubbling under the surface as I passed through the familiar turnstiles.
The moment I walked up the steps, programme in hand to my place on the Star Lane terrace I immediately feel at home. This is where I will always belong - win, lose or draw.
After the team news is in and I am just wanting for the game to kick off and when it did, Kieran O’Hara successfully pulled off some brilliant saves - especially in the first half.
Unfortunately former Macc player Connor Jennings finally found a way through to put the visitors one up, but then Koby coolly slotted the ball in to the back of the net prior to the half time whistle to bring everything even.
It was a gutsy performance once more for our patched up Silkmen side who deservedly left the pitch with their heads up high after earning a well deserved point which brings us ever closer to the teams directly above us.
I’m so excited for Saturday's game at home to Swindon and I am sure that we will claim three points as well as revenge for the game at the start of the season.
