Macclesfield Town are back on the road tomorrow afternoon, as we visit Crawley Town for an exciting Sky Bet League Two clash.
In December, the Silkmen hosted the Red Devils in Sol Campbell’s first home game in charge and came away with a 2-0 victory courtesy of an Elliott Durrell wonder-strike and a clinical Harry Smith header.
Now it’s time for the Silkmen’s return journey, which easily clears 200 miles, stretching down the country to The People’s Pension Stadium, where Crawley have not won since 5th January.
Here’s what the Manager had to say ahead of tomorrow afternoon’s fixture…
Crawley are currently nine points ahead of Macc in the table, sitting 17th. They were beaten 3 - 0 by Oldham Athletic in their last home game a fortnight ago, but are unbeaten in their last three on the road.
The Reds have hosted just two games in their last seven, both ending in loses, so the anticipated return to familiar territory could prove bitter-sweet for Gabriele Cioffi’s side.
Yet, both Macc and Crawley have accumulated five points from their last five matches, which could make this encounter a very tight contest based on the form guide.
Here’s what Red’s manager Cioffi told their club website…
“We can’t wait until the game. We’ve had two unlucky performances at home, so we want to get back on a positive track.
“The game [at Moss Rose] was cold, windy and rainy, but that’s football. We had a lot of chances which we had to finish, meanwhile they had a few shots on goal and they scored.
“They have to win; they have to perform. Their squad is good at football and their Manager has a good idea of football, so we are keen to challenge a good opponent tomorrow.”
Tomorrow afternoon marks the fourth meeting between these sides, both teams winning once and the other ending all-square.
