It’s been another busy week around League Two with managerial appointments, award winners and record-breakers.
So, here’s our roundup of three stories you may have missed this week.
Scholes Off To A Flyer As Oldham Boss
It’s been a busy week for The Latics, but Oldham fans will be very happy with how it has panned out.
Manchester United and England legend Paul Scholes received clearance from the EFL to take up the reins as Manager at Boundary Park and he was straight into the dugout for their match against Oldham.
Looking on from the side-lines, he will have been very happy with what he saw as Oldham racked up a convincing 4 - 1 scoreline making it the perfect start for the Manager.
Crewe Continue Run
Crewe Alexandra came out as 2 - 1 victors over Carlisle United on Tuesday night but in doing so, they extended what’s been a brilliant recent run of form.
The Alex had not won five consecutive home matches on the bounce since October 2006 but that changed with the result on Tuesday night. They also made it six games unbeaten in League Two, with David Artell’s men now looking like an outside shot for a play-off spot.
Manager/Player Of The Month Awards Are Given Out
Bury FC made It a double scoop this week as both manager Ryan Lowe and midfielder Jay O’Shea picked up the Sky Bet League Two Manager / Player of the month awards for January.
Under the stewardship of Lowe, Bury find themselves in the thick of a promotion push and in January they remained undefeated against promotion rivals MK Dons and top of the table Lincoln City going on to collect 13 points from five games.
Jay O’Shea is thriving under Lowe’s management and he added five goals to his season tally in January. The midfielder now has 12 goals this season and is Bury’s joint top goalscorer.
