Macclesfield Town are deeply saddened to learn that Dave Lyon - our 1969 Northern Premier League and 1970 FA Trophy winning hero has passed away at the age of 71.
Dave scored the first-ever FA Trophy final goal at Wembley Stadium, as he etched his name into Silkmen folklore during our 2 - 0 victory over Telford United.
In three stints at the Moss Rose, Dave wore the hallowed blue shirt on almost three-hundred occasions and passionately followed the club following his playing departure back in 1979.
Present at the opening of the commemorative display marking the fiftieth anniversary of our FA Trophy success at the end of last year, the club remained firmly in his heart - just like he did in all of those privileged enough to see him play.
Our thoughts are with Dave's family and friends at this incredibly sad time.
