Saturday saw us entertaining The Bantams of Bradford City at the Moss Rose. for what we all knew would be another close, hard-fought contest.
There was also guaranteed to be a big, loud away following in support of Bradford and they didn’t disappoint as they arrived in numbers.
It was a bitterly cold morning which followed a night of freezing temperatures and I’m sure it really was a team effort from the ground staff and the community team members who made sure that the game was on.
You could really tell that we are now in winter on The Star Lane terrace as I watched the team warm up. Kick-off finally arrived and unusually for us we were attacking that end during the first half.
The game went back and forth with Bradford having more of the attacking play. That was until Corey O’Keeffe was taken down in the penalty area.
Penalty to Macc and it was great to see the confidence of Jak McCourt who stepped up to take it. There was never any doubt that he would despatch the spot-kick to put us into the lead.
It was brilliant to see Emmanuel Osadebe lead the charge to celebrate with Jak after he had set his sights on taking the penalty himself - such is the team spirit we have with this group.
The second half was a much more evenly contested affair and in the 73rd minute Bradford equalised through James Vaughan's powerful header.
This is how the game finished despite us been down to ten men. The result keeps us unbeaten in the League at home since August which is a record that we should be proud of.
See you next Saturday, when we look to continue this run at home to Crewe Alexandra!
