Match Preview: Blackpool vs Macclesfield Town

13 August 2019

Macclesfield Town make the relatively short journey over to Lancashire tonight, as we face Blackpool in the Carabao Cup First Round.

Buoyed from a scintillating performance last Saturday, Sol Campbell's side will be looking to secure progress in the competition and record our fourth League One scalp since returning to the EFL last August.

Indeed, the last time we met The Seasiders was here at the Moss Rose in the Checkatrade Trophy last September.

The match ended in a dramatic three-all draw, yet Macc would claim a 5 - 3 penalty victory to continue our exemplary shoot-out record.

The Silkmen also knocked two League One sides out of the Carabao Cup last season - with both Bradford City and Walsall being eliminated by Mark Yates' side.

The Seasiders have made a perfect start to their League One season - after securing maximum points from their first two outings.

They opened the 2019/20 season with a 2 - 0 home victory against Bristol Rovers and followed this up with a 3 - 1 away victory at Southend United last Saturday.

Simon Grayson's men are experiencing somewhat of a resurgence of late and the whole vibe around the club is one of positivity and optimism.

There is no doubt that Macc have an incredibly tough test awaiting this evening, yet it is a game that we go into with no fear and confident that we will put on another inspired showing.

Don't forget that if the game is level at the end of ninety minutes, then there will be no extra-time and the match will head straight to a penalty shoot-out competition.

We really need you all behind us this evening, as the support that you give us unquestionably plays a massive role in driving us forward.

Tickets are available on the night and are priced as follows -

Adults: £10

Over 65: £8

Under 16: £5
