Danny: "The Lads Are Full Of Confidence"

17 August 2019

Danny Whitaker claims that the Silkmen side are fully focused ahead of this afternoon's Sky Bet League Two clash at Northampton Town.

Macclesfield have made an impressive start to the campaign, and Whitaker admits that his players are raring to go ahead of our third league encounter.

“We’re very prepared, very prepared and very focused” stated Danny. “The lads know they’ve got a job to do at the end of the day.

“Managers come and go in football like everybody knows, it’s common knowledge, it does happen - you’ve just got to get on with your job and what you’re paid to do.

“We’ll go out there just as normal really and what’s happened during the week you just put to the back of your mind and get on with it.”

Our Magic Man admited that the players are full of confidence, having progressed in the Carabao Cup on Tuesday night.

“That’s what it’s about, winning games of football and playing well - putting in good performances like the squad has done so far this season, so it’s just keeping that momentum going really.

“The lads are full of confidence and even more so with the cup win on Tuesday so it’s going to be great.

Whitaker claims that his side will be looking to take the game to their opponents this afternoon as they search for victory over Northampton for the first time since 2011.

“We know what they’re [Northampton Town] all about, they’ll be playing pretty much the same as they did last season so we’ll brief the lads about what to expect, but to be honest we’re not going to worry too much about them.

"It’s about what we can do and how we can hurt the opposition, so we will be looking to take the game to them and give them a good game.”

The caretaker-boss will be boosted by a non-existent injury list heading into this fixture -

“We have no concerns whatsoever with a fully fit squad. Everyone is raring to go so we’ll crack on this morning then get down to Northampton and get ready.”

Whitaker has praised the ambition and hunger possessed by the side following impressive displays so far this term.

“You’ve seen that in the first few games of the season, not only that, they’re hungry to be successful and ambitious to progress in their careers - so they’ve come here to kick-start their careers really.

"So hopefully they can push on and continue the form we are in and who knows where it can take us.”

The support from the fans has been fantastic as usual so far this campaign, and Whitaker sends a message for the travelling supporters this afternoon.

“Come out in full force like you have done the last three games, you’ve been absolutely magnificent as always.

"Hopefully you’ll come down support the team and we’ll put on a good show for you.”
