Charlotte's Chat: Leyton Orient (H)

12 August 2019

We finally returned home on Saturday and the feelings of excitement and anticipation for this game and the season as a whole were there the minute I took my place in The Star Lane End.

An unchanged starting eleven is announced, following on from our narrow defeat last week at Exeter and I knew that we had a great chance of winning the game.

Leyton got the game started and we are attacking the goal towards the away fans end during the first half.

The team start out confident, strong and determined seeing a shot from Ben Stephens blocked in the opening minutes. The noise level increases as Macc continue to press for that precious first goal of the season.

On the 23rd minute the whole ground joined together to remember Kavan. Although I didn’t know him, it was an emotional time for us all.

Our first goal of the season arrived on the 30th minute and what a memorable goal it was from Theo Archibald into the top corner.

The boys continue to attack Leyton’s goal, however the half finished 1 - 0 Macclesfield.

The second half started and we were attacking to The Star Lane End. Orient had the opportunity to equalise but it was nicely saved by Owen Evans.

Our well-deserved second goal arrived in the 60th minute following a magical forward pass from Miles Welch-Hayes which found Paddy Osadebe and sent him on a fine run where he found himself one on one with the Orient 'keeper.

Paddy coolly slotted the ball in to the back of the net to double our lead.

In the 83rd minute Theo Vassell scored the third and final goal of the game, when his head connected with Jak McCourt's ball in to the area.

That signalled celebration and joy on the touch line and in the stand - I really can’t wait for Blackpool on Tuesday now!
