Macclesfield Town are delighted to confirm the signing of 32-year-old midfielder Jay Harris, who has agreed a one-year deal with the club.
Born in Liverpool, Jay progressed through the youth ranks at Everton, before signing for Accrington Stanley in the summer of 2006.
He made his full EFL debut against Barnet the following August and went on to make 73 appearances for the Lancashire-based outfit.
In June 2008 Jay signed for Chester City, where he featured 31 times before their liquidation left him without a club.
A move over the Welsh border to join Wrexham followed in July 2010 and Jay went on to make 181 appearances for The Red Dragons over a five-year period - scoring 16 times.
It was during this period that Jay picked up his first piece of silverware, as proved to be an integral part of the Wrexham side that lifted the FA Trophy in March 2013.
Jay has spent the last four years at Tranmere Rovers, where he made 114 appearances - scoring on seven occasions as The Super White Army secured back-to-back promotions.
The Liverpudlian is a hardworking, tenacious midfielder who gives everything for the cause with his never say die attitude.
We would like to welcome Jay to the club and wish him every success during his time here at the Moss Rose.
Jay will claim the number eight squad number and we will be getting his take on the move later on today here at www.mtfc.co.uk
