Silkmen Player Of The Year Award Renamed

23 April 2019

Macclesfield Town are delighted to announce that our Player of the Year Award has been renamed, in order to create a lasting legacy to our cherished number 21.

From this season, the accolade will now be named The Richard Butcher Player of the Year Award - with the inaugural recipient to be presented with the trophy at the end of our Sky Bet League Two match with Cambridge United.

Media Manager Bob Trafford stated -

"Richard will forever remain in the hearts of everyone associated with Macclesfield Town and by renaming our Player of the Year award, we hope that we will provide another lasting tribute to our number 21.

"This is fitting in many ways, but the fact that Richard was such a genuine and professional player makes it all the more poignant for everyone who will receive the award in the years to come."

We have already received a great number of votes in order to determine this year's winner - but if you haven't cast yours yet then you can do so by visiting the club offices during normal office hours.
