Macclesfield Town are delighted to welcome lifelong fan Bernard Watson back to this Moss Rose this afternoon.
Bernard has been a committed supporter for over five decades and still proudly retains his season tickets going back to the 1970s.
Recently, Bernard has found it a little more challenging to attend games and has also had to contend with losing his partner of eighteen years.
He is currently a resident at Prestbury House Care Home and it is here that the Macclesfield Town Community Sports Trust coaches first had the privilege of meeting him.
Bernard always speaks passionately about his time at the Moss Rose and as such, we thought that we would give him a day to remember at this afternoon's game.
The club organised for a letter to be sent to him from Sol Campbell, inviting him to today's game against Newport County and Bernard really was overwhelmed!
Josh Hawkes from the Community Sports Trust stated -
"Bernard is a true Silkmen fanatic and to bring him back to the Moss Rose today really is terrific.
"Despite not been able to attend games as regularly as he once did, he loves nothing more than to talk about previous games and some of the matches which he remembers from the past.
"It really is a true honour to know Bernard and on behalf of everyone at the club, we hope that he has the memorable day he so richly deserves."
