I had been looking forward to our game at The New Lawn all week and this was definitely the case after seeing our amazing victory over Exeter City last Tuesday!
We arrived at the ground perched on the top of a very large hill - I’m so glad we didn’t have to walk up to it!
The team news arrived and sadly James Pearson was out after Tuesday's game. James has been brilliant this season, but I was still confident of getting a result.
I entered the ground feeling a bit cold as despite the sunshine, it really wasn't that warm.
We were placed along the length of the pitch and once again, there were lots of familiar faces to talk to whilst the players warmed up.
The game kicked off and despite the difference in league places, I think that we played the better of the two teams in the first half.
During the second half we were attacking the goal nearest to me. The travelling Silkmen fans certainly made all the noise even after Forest Green took the lead in the 56th minute.
Despite the goal the team kept on fighting and I still thought that we would score.
It just wasn’t meant to be though, as Forest Green doubled there lead in the 88th minute.
It was disappointing for the game to end like that, as I really did think that we could get something following our recent run of good results.
We really do have four cup finals left now and I can't wait to head down to Northampton on Friday - which is another new ground for me.
See you there - because this means everything.
