Charlotte Looks Back On An Inspirational Victory

11 April 2019

I knew that Tuesday night's game would be a big one for so many reasons, but mostly due to the fact that a win would finally pull us out of the relegation zone.

I didn’t get to make the journey down to St James Park earlier in the season due to the distance. I did watch the game on iFollow and how amazing was it to pick up three points that night. I was positive that we would repeat it again!

The game kicked off and we were defending the goal towards The Star Lane End. The unthinkable happened on the 27th minute as Exeter took the lead.

I looked at the team in front of me and all I saw was determination, passion and fight! That all paid off in the 30th minute when Harry Smith headed home the equaliser.

I think we must have all been celebrating too much because in the 34th minute Exeter once again took the lead. Only for us to fight back and equalise in injury time with another great penalty by Micheal Rose.

The referee blew for half time and it was perfect timing as I really needed to calm down!

I still knew that we would go on and win though.

The second half started and we were attacking towards my home and the noise volume really started to increase.

The players gave everything and finally got their rewards in the 85th minute when we finally take the lead with a goal nobody really knew who scored but nobody cared!

The final whistle finally went after a lot of additional time and the scenes were amazing.

Anyone who though the ending to this story had been written already are definitely wrong.

See you all at The New Lawn.

Charlotte.
