Saturday brought my very first trip to Sincil Bank, home of league-leaders Lincoln City.
Looking at league positions it’s was sure to be a tough game - especially as they have only been beaten once at home all season.
There was a real carnival atmosphere when we arrived and this made me excited even more.
It was great to see the tributes to Keith Alexander and Richard Butcher before the game too as all sides of the ground clapped our giant flag.
Then it was down to business and what a way to start when on 28 minutes Scott Wilson fired us into the lead following a brilliant pass from Elliott Durrell- our wizard of the wing.
It’s was a half of fantastic saves from Kieran O’Hara and clearances off the line by Fiacre Kelleher. The defence held firm until the 38th minute when Lincoln equalised to take them even.
James Pearson was very unlucky not to score in the 83rd minute when his breathtaking volley was tipped over by Lincoln’s keeper.
This was the battle of David versus Goliath in terms of the league table and we more than matched them
It was a valuable point gained even though it meant that we slipped to the bottom of the league.
We will continue to fight together though because it means everything!
Bring on Morecambe and I will see you there!
