The Danny Whitaker Testimonial Committee has been hard at work finalising the details for some forthcoming events which aim to raise oodles of dosh for the legend that is Danny Whitaker.
As part of this, on Sunday 5th May 2019, a Danny Whitaker XI (which will include some very well known former team-mates of Danny) will take on a celebrity XI which comprises of a number of soap stars including Ashley Taylor-Dawson and Jacob Roberts, better known as Darren Osborne and Damon Kinsella from Hollyoaks, Alan Halsall who plays Tyrone Dobbs in Coronation Street, and Anthony Quinlan who is Pete Barton in Emmerdale.
Admission prices will be £10 for adults, £5 for concessions and £1 for under 12's and we will also be offering a corporate package (that includes a meal and programme) for £50 per person - up to a maximum of 150 people.
The kick-off is scheduled for 2pm and due to it being held during a Bank Holiday weekend, you can all enjoy yourselves a little bit more because many of you won’t have to get up for work the following morning!
Tickets for what we hope to be a hugely enjoyable and successful event are available from a number of outlets, including the office at Macclesfield Town Football Club, Macclesfield Town Hall and the Brocklehurst Arms in Tytherington. You can also obtain tickets online vai the following website address: https://danny-whitaker-testimonial-fund.myonline.store/
To make the most of such an event, and of course to maximise the income raised for our legendary number 23, we require as many people as possible to take the time to offer their services free of charge on the day in a number of different roles which will be essential in ensuring that the event goes smoothly.
This includes stewards, turnstile operators, programme sellers, food kiosk staff, ball boys / girls and 50/50 sellers to name just a few examples.
We are also likely to need some volunteers following the Cambridge United game on Saturday 4th May and on the morning of the testimonial game to help get the stadium in as pristine as condition as it can be for Danny's big day. More details about this will be available in the near future.
The incomparable Andy Scott has also been hard at work, helping to put together a Golf Day which is scheduled for Friday 10th May which will of course include our midfield maestro himself.
Andy has already managed to get together a number of teams, but we are always interested to learn of more people who want to take up the challenge. The cost is £285 for teams of four which will also include a sumptuous meal, and I would further advise you to bring along plenty of cash or your credit card as knowing Mr Scott as I do, there are sure to be some very attractive raffle and auction prizes on offer as well! If you can help out in any way, please let me know as soon as you can so we can start to put plans in place that will help to make Danny's day the best that it can be.
My contact details are 07701066030 or you can email me at Gmacworth@aol.com should you requires any further information, and please remember that this is your chance to ‘do it for Danny’ and demonstrate how much we all appreciate what he has done for our beloved Silkmen over so many years!
