Ahead of Saturday’s home game against Forest Green Rovers, we take our regular look at the players who have played for both teams during their careers...
Barnes-Homer spent time in the USA and played for a number of UK clubs before joining Macclesfield in the summer of 2012, scoring on his debut. An ever present during the 2012-13 season and top scorer with 23 goals - with perhaps the most memorable being the brace against Cardiff in the FA Cup Third Round.
Matthew moved to Forest Green in the summer of 2013 but only made eighteen appearances before moving to Cambridge, Whitehawk and then back to Macc. He went on to make another thirty appearances for the Silkmen, finding the net nine more times before being released at the end of the 2014-15 season.
Spending his youth career at Manchester United, Callum moved to Barnsley in June 2015 as part of their under 21 squad. After three appearances for the Barnsley first team, Callum came to the Moss Rose on loan and played twice.
Callum joined the newly promoted Rovers in May 2017 on a one year contract but made only one appearance before going out on loan to Torquay and then back to Macclesfield. Evans went on to make fourteen appearances for the Silkmen last season, stepping in when Durrell became injured and helping the team lift the National League title.
Callum was released by Forest Green at the end of last season and signed a two year deal with Macclesfield this summer.
Jamie started his senior career in Wales with Swansea City, making no senior appearances but spending time on loan with both Haverfordwest and Forest Green. He made five appearances for Rovers in 2010.
Fast forward to 2018 and Jamie joined the Silkmen from Cheltenham as new manager Mark Yates’ first signing. Jamie has worn the blue of the Silkmen nibe times so far this season, scoring his only goal earlier this month against Lincoln.
A 31 year old right back, Jared spent 5 seasons with Rovers after signing from Market Drayton in 2009. He played over 160 times for Forest Green and was made captain in 2011.
Jared made his way to Macclesfield via Kidderminster and although suffering a few injuries that initially kept him out of the squad, made his debut on 23rd September away to Torquay.
Jared was a crucial part of the championship winning side of last season, captaining the team on a regular basis.
A Barnsley boy by birth, Jon started his playing career with the Tykes in 1998, although he almost missed his debut after forgetting a recent change to the rules on the number of substitutes!
Joining Macclesfield in February 2004, Jon’s likeable personality and natural ability on the pitch made him an instant fan favourite. He went on to make sixty-five appearances for the Silkmen, scoring thirty goals, before joining Championship side Hull City in early 2007.
Jon signed a one year contract with Forest Green in July 2014 and made eighty-four appearances, finding the net an impressive thirty-eight times.
Jon is currently with York City in the National League North and has recently released his autobiography, “How Not to be a Modern Footballer”
A talented Striker who has unfortunately had a career hampered by injury, Reece spent 4 years with Rovers, playing over one hundred games and finding the net on thirty-five occasions, including two on his debut in January 2010.
Reece had interest from other clubs but chose to remain at The New Lawn until the end of the 2013-14 season, when he left to join Wycombe on loan.
Initially on loan from Kidderminster, Reece signed a short term contract with Macclesfield in 2016 and featured in the majority of games in the second half of the season, scoring a hat trick against Gateshead and once against Grimsby the following week.
Reece is currently plying his trade at Darlington in the National League North.
