Around League Two

19 October 2018

As Macclesfield Town prepare for Carlisle’s visit to Moss Rose this Saturday, there has been plenty of stories floating around the Sky Bet League Two. Here’s what you may have missed:

Diamond Days Are Over

Mansfield Town centre-half Zander Diamond has retired from professional football, hanging up his boots at Mansfield Town following a back injury.

The Stags defender racked up 485 senior appearances over his 17-year career, also playing for the likes of Aberdeen, Oldham Athletic, and Northampton Town, winning Player of the Season in 2017 at the latter.

The 33-year-old has faced the entirety of this season on the side line due to the injury.

International Impact

Yeovil Town midfielder Sessi D’Almeida netted his first international goal for Benin in their African Cup of Nations Group D qualifying match this week.

In just his fourth match for his national side, D’Almeida’s 16th minute strike later turned out to be the match winner, forcing Alegria to miss out on qualification.

In Brief

Cambridgeshire Live explained that Cambridge United are looking to reinforce their attacking department with striker Cody McDonald and midfielder Franck Moussa who are currently on trial.

Both featured for Sky Bet League One outfits last season.

Meanwhile, Lincoln City are on the brink of a financial boost as four individuals are set to invest in the club. The deal, worth an understood six-figure sum, could be signed off next week according to Lincolnshire Live.
