Ryan Lloyd has expressed his excitement after overcoming his achilles injury and stressed the importance of a good cup run as we start our Emirates F.A Cup campaign away at Maidstone United this afternoon.
“It’s a good feeling to be back, just being around the lads and back in training. I have got two lots of 45 minutes under my belt, so my fitness will keep progressing.
“It’s been hard [missing out on the season so far], obviously I’ve been stuck in the gym for the majority of the season and then coming to the games and watching.
“Unfortunately, we have not been doing too well at the moment, but we have got a few lads coming back now so hopefully we can do our bit and turn it around.
“You get paid to play football and when you can’t do it you feel like you are not earning your money and you also miss playing football, it’s very tough when you are injured.”
Ryan has missed most of the season so far, but he hopes his return can help The Silkmen start moving in the right direction.
“We need a few characters now, hopefully to turn this around, but we’ll see if my character has changed much when I get back.”
“We have just got to get back to basics and carry on working hard.
“If we can cut out the silly mistakes, then I’m sure we will start to pick up points but it’s just those mistakes that are costing us at the moment, so we need to sort that out.
“It’s massive if you can get a good cup run going and get the changing room together then hopefully we can carry that on into the league; so hopefully we can get it going this afternoon!”
