Match Preview: MK Dons v Macclesfield Town

17 November 2018

Macclesfield Town return to action in the Sky Bet League Two tomorrow, as we travel to Stadium MK to take on the high-flying MK Dons.

The Silkmen head into Saturday’s clash after defeating West Bromich Albion’s U23 side in midweek, a result that saw the team secure passage to the next round of the Checkatrade Trophy.

Here are Neil Howarth's thoughts ahead of the game -

As for injury concerns, Jordan Ponticelli is the only player unavailable for selection, whilst Ryan Lloyd is hoping to recover in time after missing out on Tuesday’s win.

We hope to see many of you there and look forward to hearing you all cheer on the team as you have done so magnificently this season.

Our hosts go into the contest on the back of a defeat to Brighton’s U23 side in midweek, a result that saw them bow out of the Checkatrade Trophy.

However, they have been in excellent form in the league this season, losing just one game, seeing them sit in second place in the Sky Bet League Two on 34 points.

The Dons are unbeaten at home in the league this season, winning their last three home league ties at Stadium MK.

Opposition manager Paul Tisdale had this to say ahead of tomorrow’s encounter:

“We have to be respectful of every team, and we also have to realise that the margins are so fine between winning two or three games or losing two or three games.

“We must not forget that the opposition are professional people, they have mortgages to pay and contracts to earn and their own pride and careers to look after.

“What if this Saturday is the best performance they have put in this season so far? That’s how we have to think about it.

“We have to respect our opponent. The next ten minutes might be the best ten minutes they have got, so we have to be ready for it.”
