Elite Development Squad Update

9 November 2018

After the success of the opening trial event where 31 players took part in a training session lead by The Silkmen’s Youth Development Manager Paul McGuire, there has since been three Under 16 EDS matches arranged.

These games will take place over the coming months at the Moss Rose with a 7.30pm kick off. More details will follow imminently with regards to opposition and dates.

Throughout the rest of the season, talented players will continue to take part in both training sessions and competitive matches against fellow professional clubs and elite academies.

The ultimate aim is to establish a thriving youth set up which can provide a pathway for players in to the first team.

Paul McGuire said: "Football CV’s have been coming in thick and fast, so the roster of interested players is growing daily. It’s time now for the net to reach further therefore I’m inviting CV’s from right across the Northwest. I’d anticipate a huge response from the inner city areas of Manchester and towns such as Stockport therefore competition for places could be fierce.

“There are lots of talented players across the Northwest and it’s going to be key for me to establish a model that can be accessible, relevant and appropriate for each player, whilst also working closely with a number of partners".

Potential Under 16, and Under 17 players (current year 11, 12 students) can send their football CV to Youth Development Manager Paul McGuire at
