Match Preview: Macclesfield Town v Port Vale

21 December 2018

Macclesfield Town return to the Moss Rose this afternoon, as we look to make it back to back home victories under Sol Campbell in Sky Bet League Two.

After overcoming Crawley Town  last weekend, the team will be in high spirits going into the clash.

This is what Sol had to say ahead of the game:

The Silkmen will once again be without Rhys Taylor (hip) and Callum Evans (ankle) ahead of the game.

Once again, we hope to see as many of you as possible at the Moss Rose, your support has been invaluable this season and we hope this continues today.

Port Vale come into the game in 15th place in the Sky Bet League Two, after taking 27 points from their 22 games so far.

They drew 2-2 with Cheltenham Town last time out, scoring a stoppage time equaliser to take a point.

They have lost just once in their last five away trips, drawing twice and winning twice in that time.

Opposition manager Neil Aspin had this to say ahead of the game:

"Any manager going into a club, you expect an up-turn in results. You expect the players to be trying just that little bit harder to impress.

"Certainly, that seems to be the case. Although they've had a loss at Colchester, which was a narrow 1-0 defeat and it's a hard place to go, so that's obviously improved.

"Every game is tough. If we don't approach it correctly, we won't get a result, but the other side of the coin is that we're capable of getting the result so it's down to the players.”
