Macclesfield Town will travel to the Bescot Stadium for the fifth time on Tuesday evening, as we look to progress through to the Carabao Cup Third Round and ahead of the game we take a look back at our previous four visits.
Our first trip came back in April 1999, when Sammy McIlroy's side suffered a 2 - 0 defeat against The Saddlers in our one and only season in the third tier of English Football.
We would not travel down to the Bescot Stadium again until September 2006 and despite almost seven years having past, the result remained the same.
Hector Sam scored his first goal for Walsall in the 28th minute and despite a gallant fightback from Brian Horton's side, Scott Dann's 89th minute strike sealed all three points for the hosts.
Our other two visits have both come in the FA Cup and The Silkmen have had much more success in these than the league fixtures documented above.
Following the arrival of Paul Ince in October 2006, Macc were drawn to face The Saddlers at the Moss Rose in the First Round of that season's FA Cup.
The two sides played out a goalless draw and therefore a replay was required to settle the tie and determine who would face Hartlepool United in Round Two.
Despite the fact that Walsall commanded a thirty-five point lead over The Silkmen in the league, Jimmy McNulty's 81st minute strike dramatically sent Ince's side through on the back of a 1 - 0 victory.
Macc would successfully overcome Hartlepool and were then drawn away at Chelsea in the Third Round which was an unforgettable day for everyone associated with the Football Club.
The last time that we visited the Bescot Stadium was in November 2016, when John Askey's Silkmen side completed another pulsating giant-killing act to send us through to an FA Cup Second Round Tie with Oxford United.
Defender John McCombe wrote himself into Macclesfield Town folklore that day, as his 23rd minute header proved to be enough to secure another memorable victory.
Our complete record at Walsall is as follows -
Played 4. Won 2. Drawn 0. Lost 2.
