The Youth Team had to settle for a point in Saturday's North West Youth Alliance game with Premier League outfit Wigan Athletic despite dominating the game for long periods.

It could however have been much worse for John's team, the hosts' goal coming from a late penalty after the visitors had taken the lead inside the first twenty minutes. The Silkmen proceeded to boss the play thereafter but it looked all in vain until the 87th minute when Greg Daniels was upended in the box. Defender James Moss kept his cool to slot home the resultant spot kick to secure the team's first point of the campaign.
"I was pleased with the overall performance," explained John Askey, "but disappointed in the end we didn't secure all three points. I certainly felt our performance warranted that but in the end I suppose I was happy to pick up a point as it looked like it was going to be one of those days."
"Given the respective resources of the two teams I felt we look a far stronger unit but we do need to work harder on our final ball and of course be more clinical when chances arise."
Starting XI
Liam Davies, James Moss, Patrick Montgomery, Jack Lane, Tom Meachin, Kynan Mason, Max Lonsdale, Jay Burgess, Ryan Meredith, Sam Cooke, Greg Daniels
Injury Update
Max Lonsdale hobbled out of the game on five minutes with a hamstring strain. Whilst the injury is not as bad as first feared it is likely to keep him out of action for a week or so.
"Max could probably play next week but its one of those injuries where you don't want to rush the player back," explained John Askey.
