John Askey reflects on yesterday's win

Posted on: Thu 22 Apr 2010

John Askey was pleased with the way his team battled back from going behind to Burnley at the Moss Rose yesterday in their latest North West Youth Alliance game.

Goals from Tom France and Adam Jukes helped the Silkmen to a 2-1 win much to the delight of the watching manager.

"We've had a lot of games in recent weeks, which coupled with the fact a lot of the lads have also been playing in the reserves has meant its been a hectic time," explained John. "But its part and parcel of their education and I felt yesterday was a good example of how their character has grown."

"It would have been easy to throw the towel in after going a goal behind but they stuck to the task and it was great to pick up the three points. We've three games left this season and its important we continue in the same vein and try as finish as high as we can in the league."

"But irrespective of where we do finish, when the dust settles we'll be able to look back on another year of progress both on and off the field. And that's what its all about. "

The win moves the Silkmen up a place to 14th in the North West Youth Alliance table ahead of their next game when they host Carlisle at the Moss Rose this coming Saturday (Kick-off 11am).
