The Youth team enjoyed a comprehensive win on Saturday against Walsall with free scoring Sam Cook and Vinny Mukendi once again on the scoresheet.
The youngsters went nap for the second time this season, running out 5-0 winners in a keenly contested game against the previously unbeaten Saddlers.
It was the visitors however who enjoyed the stronger start to the game, putting the Silkmen defence under pressure, with Josh Welsby certainly the busier of the two keepers.
But the game turned on 15 minutes when the Silkmen took the lead from a corner, a Saddlers defender inadvertently putting the ball past his keeper for an own goal. It gave the confidence to John Askey's team to take the game to the visitors and by half time the lead had been extended to three, firstly through Sam Cook (pictured) and then strike partner Vinny Mukendi.
After the break Michael Thomas added a fourth before Vinny Mukendi completed the scoring, chipping the keeper from fully 35 yards with a delightful finish.
The Saddlers had a chance to reduce the arrears in the later stages but Josh Welsby completed his best game yet for the Silkmen when diving to save a penalty kick.
Understandably manager was pleased with his team's efforts.
"It's great to be scoring so freely and in Vinny and Sam we have to very confident young strikers who know where the goal is," explained John.
"But as daft as it sounds I was more pleased with the clean sheet. Josh was probably our best player on the day and they caused us a few problems. But having gone into a commanding lead it would have been easy to lose concentration. That didn't happen and that's testimony to the lads who put in a very professional ninety minutes."
