SILKMEN MUSEUM TRUST

Posted on: Wed 23 Jan 2008

The Museum Trust was set up back in the summer of 2004. The aims are twofold.

Firstly to act as a focal point for the collection of Macclesfield Town memorabilia and secondly to secure a permanent base at the Moss Rose to exhibit said artefacts, and ensure our wonderful history is documented for all Macclesfield Town fans to see and appreciate just how far we have come.

The Trust meets on a regular basis at the George and Dragon in Higher Hurdsfield and has been fortunate in obtaining some extremely significant items since their inception. These include;

  1. The original first ever Macclesfield Town team photograph
  2. A collection of medals won by ex-player Len Butt
  3. Dick Young's 1970 Wembley Tie

This has been supplemented by a large collection of Silkmen programmes that chart our rise through the league.

Friends of the Silkmen Museum Trust

Early in 2006 we also launched the 'Friends' of the Silkmen Museum Trust. We now have 60 'Friends', each of whom has received a limited edition badge upon joining. If you would like to join the Trust or better still become a 'Friend' please contact club Director Geoff Findlow via the Moss Rose offices.
