The young defender was added to the squad as cover by previous manager Ian Brightwell but never featured in the first team. New boss Keith Alexander however was quick to spot the youngster's potential and gave him his league debut in his first game in charge against Notts County and earned a two year deal at the end of that season.
Shaun has been a regular ever since and scored both goals in the Silkmen's 2-1 home victory over Accrington. Although a centre half Shaun has featured in numerous positions, including wing back and the club was delighted to secure his signature on a two year contact this summer.
Shaun was almost an ever present for the 2008/9 season, playing 43 times in all competitions and scoring twice.
