JJ initially attended Manchester City's academy, but after he was released at 15 he joined Macclesfield Town's Centre of Excellence where he played for the Under 16s team before becoming an apprentice at the Moss Rose. At the beginning of the 2006/07 season the young defender was offered a contract by Brain Horton and made his debut in the 2-1 win at Notts County in early December. Was recalled from a loan spell at Altrincham by new boss Keith Alexander and thrust straight into first team action. He was rewarded in the summer with a new one year deal and is expected to make a big impact this season.
