Jose is in his third season at the Moss Rose, having joined the Silkmen in August 2009. The Cape Verde international, made just six appearances in his first year at the club, having to be content with a place on the bench as back up to first choice Jon Brain.

But with Brain moving to Walsall last summer, Jose was offered a new deal and made the most of his opportunity with a string of impressive performances, an ever present for the Silkmen.

Jose moved to England in 2006, but despite trials with several league clubs, signed for Tamworth, playing 40 times in a two year spell that was affected by a shoulder injury. After further spells with Atherstone Town and Harrogate Town, Jose made his Football League debut whilst on loan at Hereford United towards the end of the 2008/09 season.

Jose began his career in his native Portugal at F.C. Alverca where he played 47 games in two years in the Portugese second division alongside Chelsea's Portuguese international Deco as the club were promoted to the top flight. Leaving Portugal he moved across the border to Spain and to Levante UD where he made the bulk of his appearances, winning the Spanish third tier during his 127 games before a further spell in Portugal prior to his move to England.
