A look back at the links between the Silkmen and this weekend's opposition - Wycombe Wanderers.
PAST ENCOUNTERS
The Silkmen have a history against Wycombe stretching back to the first Conference meeting in 1987/88, and it was an inauspicous start for the Silkmen in these meetings as Wanderers won the first game 5-0 - the biggest defeat suffered by the Silkmen in their first season in the Conference. A 1-1 home draw followed and the following season the results were reversed, with Wycombe winning at the Moss Rose and drawing at Loakes Park.
This would be Wanderers last non-League win against the Silkmen as the next eight meetings saw three Macc wins and five draws.
And it is the last of these, which was also Wanderers last Conference match which is most famous for the Silkmen, and involved quite possibly the most important goal in the club's history.
Going into the game staring relegation in the face, and with the home side as Champions, the Silkmen players came out holding cards spelling out 'Congratulations'.
Roy Green was the hero of the hour as he scored the only goal of the game and the Silkmen retained their Conference Status. Sammy McIlroy arrived the following summer and the rest is history.
Would the Silkmen be a League club without Roy Green?

It would be five years later before the two sides would meet again in the Second Division with a forgettable (for Macc fans) 3-0 away defeat followed by a 3-1 home loss with Steve Payne getting the goal.
And another five years would pass before the next meeting, which would see Macc faring a bit better. Leading through an early Danny Whitaker goal, the visitors thought they had stolen a point when Roger Johnson equalised in injury time. But Alan Navarro re-took the lead seconds later to win the game for the Silkmen before the sides drew 1-1 at Adams Park.

Next to come was the most memorable League match between the two sides as the Silkmen won by the odd goal in nine.
In a game that remains the club's highest scoring League game, the Silkmen raced into a 3-0 lead after 13 minutes (Wijnhard (2) and Whitaker) before a bewildering penalty set the Wycombe fight-back in motion on the half hour. Promotion chasing Wycombe took the game to the Silkmen and with 15 minutes to play the home side lead 4-3.
Step forward Jon Parkin who netted in the 77th and 81st minute to win an incredible match for the Silkmen.
The home game that season was a comfortable 2-1 win for the Silkmen but since then Wycombe have had the better of the meetings. 2006/7 saw a 3-0 away defeat after losing 2-0 at the Moss Rose whilst 2007/8 saw Wycombe winning both matches 2-1.

The last meetings came in the 2008/9 season. First up was a wintery meeting at Adams Park which was called off due to snow, and saw the Silkmen's directors buying a drink for all of the travelling supporters before heading home. The match was rescheduled and Wycombe - on the way to promotion - won 4-0.
After five straight defeats, the Moss Rose match that season saw the club picking up a point thanks to a 0-0 draw.
And the Silkmen improved even more with the away match earlier this season when magnificent goals from Tyrone Barnett and Colin Daniel fired the Silkmen to a 2-1 win.

PLAYED FOR BOTH
There haven't been many players to have represented both clubs, but of that select group there have been some high-profile names. One of the Silkmen's Wembley goalscorers in 1996, Tony Hemmings was with Wycombe between 1993 and 1995.

Kevin Keen, who was a player and caretaker manager of the Silkmen, meanwhile, began his career at Wycombe before going on to make his name at West Ham.
Graham Potter, a part of the Silkmen's play-off reaching side spent a short time on loan at Wycombe in 1993 whilst Martin Bullock - who played for the Silkmen in the 5-4 win - joined Wanderers the following season.

Fola Onibuje and Mark Cooper have also been on the books of both clubs.
