Programme Preview - Chesterfield

Posted on: Fri 27 Aug 2010

The Silkmen face Chesterfield at the Moss Rose this weekend and that means another edition of the Silkmen's matchday programme. Here's just a taste of what is on offer.

Gary Simpson: "If I learnt one thing from my time working with the Big Man, it was to try and take the rough with the smooth and see things more on an even keel. For someone like myself, who hates losing at anything, that's not easy and I have to admit that I wasn't in the best of moods when I travelled home from Accrington last Saturday."

Glyn Chamberlain: "You obviously enjoy some games more than others! We clearly need a win to settle any nerves but I think at times we haven't got what our performances have deserved. But that's football and we just need to keep working hard."

Mike Rance: "It's certainly a disappointment not to have put early points on the board but in my opinion it's far too early to get overly concerned. I'm confident that the mix of youth and experience we now have available at the club is capable of much better"

Sally Brealey: "Having home games in quick succession makes life hard for those of us behind the scenes at the club as we barely get a chance to take stock before the next important job is upon us. So there were certainly a few mixed feelings when the Johnstone's Paints Trophy threw up a home fixture between today and next weekend's match against Stockport County."

Paul Bolland: "After the first three games we were in high spirits despite not getting the points we deserved. Obviously after Accrington we were all disappointed but there are no excuses we played badly and were rightly punished."

Tyrone Barnett: "I think as a striker you have to have a natural eye for goal and not be afraid to have a pop when you get the chance. So hopefully I'll be able to get into those goalscoring positions."

Match to Remember: "We look back at a famous FA Cup tie for the Silkmen which came in the midst of what turned out to be one of the most pivotal seasons in the club's history."

Danny Whitaker: "It will be a bit strange as I've still got a lot of friends at the club and of course still live in the town in Tytherington. As a result I've managed to get to a few games so it kind of feels like I've never been away and of course it's always the first result I look out for."

Blogger: "The publication of the Agent's Fees Report for the 2009/2010 season last week showed that Football League clubs' spending on agents has increased, despite the recession. Agents are often characterised by fans and press alike as parasites, leeching money out of the game, inflating transfer fees and player's wages. But that is a simplistic view?"
