A new season means a new-look matchday programme here at the Moss Rose and with Shrewsbury the visitors tomorrow, we take a look at what is on offer this season as we introduce new features such as a regular interview with Paul Bolland, a new Silkmen blog and a regular look at a memorable match between the two sides.
Gary Simpson - "In many ways it is disappointing to write these notes without a win under our belts as I felt our performances against both Stevenage and Leicester could on any other day resulted in a victory. But football can be a cruel mistress as we found out to our costs. But it would be wrong to assume we are in any way downhearted. Nothing could be further from the truth."
Mike Rance - "It has to be encouraging for both the Times and News of the World to report that we gave newly promoted Stevenage a "football lesson" for long periods of our opening fixture and to have Leicester manager Roberto Sousa say on BBC Radio Leicester after our narrow 4-3 defeat in our Carling Cup tie that "you don't often see quality like that from League 2 sides"."
Sally Brealey - "Of course you don't need me to tell you that it is tough time financially and that presents clubs like ours with a challenge. But it's a challenge we are up for and I am delighted to say that we've already sold out of pitch side perimeter boards which is great news. We've even had to turn a few people away."
Paul Bolland - "It was uncertain and a little worrying [over the summer]. I have a wife and two kids so it was a worrying time because obviously I need to put food on the table."
Match to Remember - "The 2002/3 season hadn't been the best for the Silkmen. It had been manager David Moss' first full season in the Moss Rose hot seat and a string of bad results saw the club dropping right into the thick of the relegation battle by the end of February..."
Blogger - "A certain amount of expectation surrounds every club in the opening weeks of the season. No manager or chairman is going to be quoted saying 'Actually, I think we're screwed this year, we're probably going down.'"
All this, plus much more in the new Macclesfield Town matchday programme. On sale on Saturday - Still only £2.50!
