Injury Update

Posted on: Thu 08 Apr 2010

Easter is always a busy time in football and the Moss Rose treatment room this season has been one of the busiest places at the club. We spoke to Nick Reid about the current situation.

"We're looking at a few players who are not far from a come back now, but this weekend is probably a bit too early for any of them.

"Colin Daniel is a lot better this week after his hamstring strain. Barnet and Burton are probably a bit of a stretch but if he keeps improving then we could see him back available for the visit of Chesterfield.

"Ross Draper is in a similar situation with his ankle. The welling has almost gone down completely but he is very tender on the injured ankle. He can walk without discomfort now and although he's not tried jogging on it yet, if he continues to improve over the weekend as he has been, then he could see a return to fitness in time for Tuesday night.

"Izak Reid has now featured a few times with no reaction so will be available for selection for Saturday.

"Elsewhere in the longer-term injuries we might have to send Carl Tremarco back to the specialist as he is very up and down at the moment. He's asking to go out and train because he wants to get back playing but is feeling it a bit. We'll have to see what the specialist has to say.

"Paul Bolland pulled his hamstring in the game on Monday. It's not the same injury as last time, which was his groin, but he'll be out of action for a couple of weeks still.

"Ricky Sappleton is continuing to improve after having his knee cartlidge trimmed. He's getting closer to fitness but is still looking at a couple of weeks or so longer on the sidelines.

"And, of course there's Hamza Bencherif who has started to do some light ball-work today which is a good step forward for him. But he still doesn't have the full range of movement in the ankle and has a limp when he runs. He's improving rapidly but with the end of the season only a month or so away he's still unlikely to play a part."
