Caretaker boss Gary Simpson was full of praise for his Macclesfield Team after the final whistle at Edgar Street today.

"Today was extremely difficult but I am just delighted we were able to pick up a result for Keith and his family," explained Gary. "And the win was also as much for the fans who have been magnificent all week and never shut up today. They were a big help to us on what was an emotional day."

"We made a few changes to the formation and I thought we put in a thoroughly professional performance, capped off with two great goals. I am delighted for both Emile and Ricky. And apart from a long range effort they didn't really trouble Brainy and that's would have really pleased Keith."

"We knew today was a big game for us before the terrible news in the week, more so in light of Grimsby's win. And to be honest I am glad its all over. But we have to lift ourselves again for Tuesday which is going to be probably evener harder."

"Before the game I told the lads we needed to focus and be professional. That's what the gaffer would have wanted and that' what he got. And its inevitable that when we all get home later tonight it will really hit home that Keith has gone. A few of the lads have broken down but we need to be strong and we are all here to support each other."

"Today was the first of 14 hurdles we have to jump before the end of the season. I've not even given any thought beyond today's game. The people who run this club are the best Keith and I have worked for. They are good people and I am sure they will do what's best. All I want to do know is prepare for the game at Accrington and take it from there."
