Tributes have continued to pour in to the club following the sad death of Silkmen manager Keith Alexander yesterday.

Staff and players shared a minute's silence at the Moss Rose this morning before Gary Simpson took the players in their first training session since the awful news of the gaffer's untimely passing was announced.

It was a quiet moment away from the media spotlight from those closest to Keith after a day in which the world of football came together to honour Keith's memory.

As well as these comments which have been seen and heard in the press, on television and radio over the past 24 hours, there was also the mark of respect shown by the England national teams in yesterday's matches.

Elsewhere, Keith's former club - Lincoln City- opened their doors to supporters wishing to visit the ground with flowers or other memorabilia to show their respects.

The Silkmen have been inundated with phone calls throughout the day as well as hundreds of e-mails. The club intend to reply to each of these e-mails individually even though it may take some time.

The internet meanwhile was awash with messages of support. A Facebook site set up to remember Keith had over 11,000 members by 10am this morning, and fans from far and wide continue to sign the books of condolence that were set up yesterday.

The respect that Football has for Keith was equally evident in the message boards from other clubs up and down the country and across all divisions. Supporters of clubs from Manchester United to Altrincham and from Southampton to Carlisle expressed their admiration for Keith Alexander as a manager and a man as well as their shock and dismay at the sad news.

Closer to home, the McIlroy Suite was opened last night for supporters of Macclesfield Town to pay their respects. It was a busy night as people came along either just to sign the book and view the flowers and mementos placed in the home dugout. Some stayed on to watch the England game, something that would have brought a smile to Keith's face who just loved his football.

Pictures from last night can be seen HERE.

Everyone at Macclesfield Town would like to thank the footballing world for its kind comments. For anyone who knew Keith, yesterday was a tough day. The club will ensure all the messages of support are passed onto his family who remain at the forefront of our thoughts at this time.
