The Silkmen's season continues as the club travel to Accrington for a League Two match. We take our regular look at the links between the Silkmen and this weekend's opposition, Accrington.
PAST ENCOUNTERS
Now in their fourth season back in the Football League, this will be the eighth time Accy and the Silkmen have met.
The first meeting, in 2006, came just after the Silkmen had achieved their first League wins of the season, and after going behind in the 27th minute, the Silkmen fought back to 2-1 up thanks to Jamie Tolley and Martin Bullock. The lead lasted only two minutes before Jacobsen equalised. The win looked on the cards when John Murphy found the back of the net in the 89th minute, but Accrington snatched a draw in injury time.

3-2 was the score away from home that season as John Miles' two goals put the Silkmen ahead after again going a goal behind. But two goals from Procter either side of half time kept all three points in Lancashire.
It was 3-2 again a year later in the away leg as the Silkmen battled back from two goals behind to pull back to 2-2 thanks to McIntyre and Gareth Evans. But parity only lasted seconds as the home side scored a third almost straight from the kick-off.

The Silkmen's first, and so far only, win against Accy came in the home leg that season. Shaun Brisley walking away with the man of the match award in only his seventh senior match after scoring twice, one either side of an Ian Craney goal.
Last season Stanley won both meetings 2-0 and earlier this campaign the two sides played out a 0-0 draw meaning the Silkmen have taken just one win and two draws from the previous seven meetings, a statistic the lads will be desperate to put right this evening.
PLAYED FOR BOTH
Former Silkmen John Miles remains on the books at Accrington Stanley and has played more than 30 times for them already this season, so looks a safe bet to face off against his former club. Michael Symes is also likely to be in the opposition line-up, and has already found the back of the net fifteen times this season.

The Silkmen have an Accrington old-boy of their own. Craig Lindfield spent time on loan at Accrington last season, playing 20 times including an appearance in this fixture at the Moss Rose.

Other players to have represented both sides are Rikki Bains, Alan Navarro, Fola Onibuje, Mark Boyd, Michael Welch and Albert Valentine.
Not forgetting that Accrington manager John Coleman is also a former Silkman after spending time at the Moss Rose as a player in the late 80's.
