"We had a corner and I was outside the area to follow-in, Belly took it and their defender headed it clear. It was coming to me and I couldn't see any other options open to me, so I had a crack.

"It was great to see it flying in. We had a tough game down there and it was a fantastic result for us. We'd certainly have taken it if you have offered it before kick off."

Most pundits described is as a goal your brother would be proud of, are you keen to get away from being referred to as 'Wayne's Brother'?

"Definitely. I want to carve out my own career and have people knowing me for my own achievements and what I have done in football.

If I can keep scoring goals like the one on Friday, perhaps people will be calling him 'John's Brother' before too long."

You can read a full interview with John Rooney where he discusses his first senior goal against Dagenham last season, what goes through his mind when he prepares to shoot from long range and how coming from a footballing family has helped his career in next Saturday's matchday programme.
